The Ionix Model WF200-2 is designed to eliminate static on wood surfaces prior to painting. This results in a cleaner surface prior to finishing.
Benefits of Ionix for wood finishers and product finishers
Using a static eliminator has 2 significant benefits to finishers.
First, using a static eliminator during blow off prior to painting eliminates static charges on surfaces that attract airborne particles which cause fisheyes and blemishes. There is no static electricity charges on the surface to attract dust when blown off with Ionix.
Secondly, using a static eliminator allows the operator to use less air pressure during the blow off process. This reduces the amount of particulate suspended in the air that can settle onto work.
If you blowoff your work now, installing our static eliminator
will make that blowoff more effective and faster - with no more labor time. It
costs less than 50 cents a day to have an Ionix in your blowoff line.
Ionix can be used in hand blow off operations or in automated finishing lines. Ionix is installed on a air hose not used for painting. Do not install Ionix on the same air hose used for painting! Use Ionix on a separate air hose for blowoff.
For eliminating static on wood only:
For shops who do not currently have a blow off air line, they should purchase the complete WF200 Ionix Static Control System. This includes 1 Ionix WF200-2, 1 pistol grip air gun, 25’ of 3/8” hose with ¼” threaded nipples on each and 2 hose clamps. The shop simply threads a quick connect to the hose to complete installation. When your ready to blow off, remove your spray gun from air hose, attach the Ionix air hose, blow off surface, remove Ionix hose when done and reattach spray gun to paint.
For shops who currently have a dedicated blow off air hose, the shop would purchase an individual Ionix AF200-2, cut their air line and insert the Ionix in the blow off air line. Ionix AF200 are available for 3/8" or 1/2" inside diameter air lines.
For eliminating static on plastic components:
For shops who do not currently have a dedicated blow off air line, they should purchase the complete PL300 Ionix Static Control System. This includes 1 Ionix PL300-2, 1 pistol grip air gun, 25’ of 3/8” hose with ¼” threaded nipples on each and 2 hose clamps. The shop simply threads a quick connect to the hose to complete installation. When your ready to blow off, remove your spray gun from air hose, attach the Ionix air hose, blow off surface, remove Ionix hose when done and reattach spray gun to paint.
For shops who currently have a dedicated blow off line, the shop would purchase an individual Ionix PL300-2, cut their air line and insert the Ionix in the blow off air line.
Installation and maintenance
Ionix works automatically when air passes through it. Install according to the directional airflow indicated on the outside of the Ionix. Ionix contains internal screens to trap dust and dirt. Once a month the Ionix unit should be removed from the air line and blown out in reverse air direction to clean out of any debris collected inside by the interior screens.
Do not leave the Ionix in the air hose if the air hose is used painting. Do not leave Ionix in the paint booth during the bake cycle. Do not use in lines over 50psi/3.5 bar.
Operation of Ionix
The purpose of using a static eliminator is to be able to turn pressure down during blowoff. High pressures suspend dirt in the air which later fall down on your work causing blemishes. High air velocities over surfaces also cause static. Therefore, your goal is to use AS LOW A PRESSURE DURING BLOWOFF AS POSSIBLE! Ionix is rated to 50psi but you should never have to use pressures that high with Ionix installed.
7 tips for fewer finishing reworks
The key to fewer makeovers is a systematic effort of preventive measures to reduce particulate and static in your painting environment. Here are 7 recommendations to improve the quality of your work.
1. Use a static eliminator during blow off to reduce static charges which attract dirt. Using a static eliminator also allows you to use lower air pressure to blow off surfaces reducing particulate suspended in the air.
2. Filter air to your paint booth and change air filters regularly.
3. Maintain positive pressure in your paint booth so air is escaping out, not into, your paint booth.
4. Wear non-woven clothes in painting environments.
5. Wet the floor in the paint booth.
6. Use a low pressure paint gun.
7. Use low pressure during blowoff. High pressure creates high velocities over the body surface which causes static.
